What does it mean to be healthy? When it comes to our bodies it means choosing food as fuel. It means choosing to nourish. My seeking out knowledge to help my body heal has taken me to some really good information. It’s all very simple. God has created our bodies with an incredible ability to heal and repair, and He has given us everything in nature to nourish it and use as medicine. While I am not anti-medicine, I am a big believer that the food that is heavily manufactured has made us sick and in turn medicines have been created to help us deal with that sickness. But what if we just went back to eating food in its natural state. So, I am a big believer that my body needs lean proteins, healthy fats, an abundance of vegetables, seeds, nuts & lots of water. I also believe we need quality salt as well. I do also believe that artificial colors, flavors, manufactured food, food additives like msg & sugar are making us sick.. So, while I have NO degree in nutrition .. I will choose to eat from group A and skip group B.
But eating the right things is just one part of this. I believe being healthy also means caring for my body. It means learning my limits, so the output doesn’t override my input. It means resting my body and learning to be still. It means being spiritually healthy. It means healthy relationships.
We tend to put “healthy” in a box and we reduce it down to that dreaded “d” word.. (diet) why does diet mean torture, deprivation, pain??? Why can’t it mean health, peace and empowerment. When we cannot live without something that is hurting or even killing us we are enslaved.
Take care of yourself not because its January but because you deserve it. Blessings
