On September 19, my Nanny went home to be with the Lord. As I mourn the loss of her, I am mindful of all she added to my life & our whole family. She was simple woman who knew how to love everyone. She was a woman of hospitality who welcomed everyone as family, related or not. She loved deeply and cared for everyone. She was from a poor farming family and learned the true meaning of wealth not in dollars but in love & compassion. She believed in homecooked simple foods not restaurant or store bought. She always believed in helping those in need. She believed in hard work and servanthood. She was a rarity in this day an age ,old fashioned ideas & values. She lived through the Depression, 5 wars, burial of all her sisters, parents, her 2 husbands, a beloved son in law and a precious grandaughter. More than all of that, she was my nanny and she loved me like no one else knew how. She passes that torch to me now with some pretty big shoes to fill. I will serve those in need. I will continue to make food the old fashioned way. I will welcome all who come to my door. I will look to the good in people.
I will be lauching “Nanny’s”. A ministry of service to serving food for families, the sick & the shut ins. To God be the Glory!
