Last January I set out on a journey of health. Like many of us I really meant it this time. I was sick and tired & tired of it. Although I went through many peaks and valleys and victories and disappointments 2016 was truly a year of health. I want to share with you what I learned along the way.
My first goal was actually tending to my health, something I had neglected for a long time. Good healthcare has become increasingly hard to find ( an also quite expensive) I began my year embarking on a new kind of doctor, a direct care doctor, Covenant MD. This was a new concept to us and our area but we took a leap for faith because I guess I was just out of answers (and about out of hope). I have battled low thyroid for 15 years. I began this year with a tsh of 45 (anything over .4 is low) I had my first visit (in my home) and so began a great new relationship to healing. Not getting rushed out, finally being heard and finally finding health. Today my tsh is .4 it’s not perfect but its really getting there. No more do I neglect my health but know that today I have a caring doctor who answers the phone when I call (yes personally) and has become a valued part of our family. Yes all of us have gotten to see and be cared for by both Dr. Rohal & amazing nurse Hannah. A few highlights: when my daughter was struggling Dr. Rohal said, “May I come by and visit with her and also I can drop off your medication when I come” . I am currently getting over a kidney infection. I didn’t want to bother my doctor and his young family on Christmas Eve so I waited it out. When I finally called he said, “Mrs. Walter, I am your doctor you call me when you need me”. How could I be more blessed?
Another goal was weight loss. I had gained a little weight that was really concerning me and try as I did I couldn’t get anywhere. I was eating a meticulous diet but nothing was happening. Again, Covenant MD came in with some advice that they had thoroughly investigated and we saw healing of our bodies and relief to a lot of inflation issues. This is the journey I plan on sharing at my January 10 th class.
Finally and most importantly I found my spirit health again. Each day this Christmas season I have unwrapped Jesus as an amazing & profound gift. I have seen Him answer my prayers and draw me close. I have learned the love of His Word and prayer again. It is so fresh and alive and it fuels each day for Him and His purposes. My direction came from that of my Pastor at MBIC, Brian Thomas. Who taught us to pray God’s word. This simple yet profound teaching has had the greatest spiritual impact this year.
This year has also seen great loss. But in that great loss God has cast a vision for us as a family that has forever impacted our lives. I am grateful for the journey on 2016. It’s drawn me closer to God’s vision and purpose for our lives (both physical & spiritual) as well as complete health.
